Southside Network Authority Names New Executive Director
The Southside Network Authority (SNA) is proud to announce the appointment of Marcellus Nixon as its new Executive Director. With a distinguished career in network engineering and high-speed internet networks, Nixon brings decades of expertise to further the Authority’s mission of enhancing connectivity and driving economic growth through the deployment of critical high-speed internet infrastructure.
Nixon previously designed and constructed more than 800 miles of middle mile high-speed internet fiber. Moreover, he has a vision and innovative approach which will be vital in leading the SNA’s initiatives across the region, the country and the globe.
Nixon expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Authority, stating “The SNA is on a path to become the leading provider of fiber optic middle-mile network infrastructure in the mid-Atlantic region. I am very excited to join this organization. With construction underway in five of the Southside cities and extensions being planned into the Peninsula, SNA is helping to position the region for explosive economic growth. We have a vision that, when implemented, will enable the host of network services required in today’s leading-edge communities.”
As Executive Director, Nixon will guide ongoing and future efforts to develop a robust middle-mile fiber optic network that promotes greater connectivity and digital equity for residents and businesses alike. His leadership is expected to accelerate the Authority’s progress in fostering economic development and bridging the digital divide across the Southside region.
